What is Axe Throwing?
Axe throwing is a fun, beginner-friendly target sport where players throw real axes, hatchets, tomahawks and throwing knives at wooden targets, aiming to score points and hit the bullseye. At Bermuda Blades Axe Throwing in Henlow, every session is private to your group and includes a full safety briefing, coaching, scorecards, scoring games, different throwing weapons and exclusive use of your booked lane. We have a range of weapons in varying weights, meaning even younger players aged 12+ can confidently have a go with the right guidance. It’s suitable for couples, friends, families with older children, birthday groups, work socials, team days out and anyone looking for something different to do in Bedfordshire. If you enjoy target sports like archery but want a more unique, hands-on and exciting experience, axe throwing is a brilliant alternative no experience needed, just turn up and we’ll teach you everything you need to know.
Sessions for Every Thrower
Soft Bristle Axe Throwing Ages 8+
Perfect for younger throwers, our soft bristle axe throwing delivers all the fun of hitting the target in a safe, child-friendly way! Sessions are priced per lane, with space for up to six throwers to take turns, compete for the highest score and challenge each other to fun throwing games.
It’s a brilliant standalone activity for children, or if the adults and older children are trying real axe throwing, you can book the second lane to keep the younger ones involved in the action.
Choose from a 30 or 60-minute session using soft bristle plastic throwing axes, shurikens and specially designed plastic target boards. Sessions are supervised by the adults attending, making it a fun activity the whole group can enjoy together.
Real Axe & Knife Throwing Ages 12+
The main activity, right? Our real axe-throwing sessions are suitable for ages 12+ and include a selection of hatchets, tomahawks and competition axes as standard, with the option to upgrade your session to include throwing knives too.
Every session starts with a safety briefing and throwing demonstration from your instructor, followed by a few practice throws to help you get the technique right. Once you’ve got the hang of it, your instructor can take a step back and let you work through the different weapons at your own pace, or stay more involved if you’d prefer plenty of coaching and guidance.
Towards the end, your instructor will rejoin the action to lead some fun mini-games before finishing with a tournament to crown the ultimate winner.
Every booking includes 4–5 throwing weapons, coached instruction, scorecards (because the winner needs something to stick on the fridge) and plenty of banter. Throwing knives and custom targets are also available as optional upgrades.
Custom Made Challenge Targets Ages 12+
Been axe throwing before, or just fancy switching up your target? Bermuda Blades now offers five different custom challenge targets to add an extra twist to your session: Hostage Rescue, Monster Chase, Fruit Slice, Zombie Killer and Kraken Attack.
Each target comes with its own characters, scoring zones and challenges, giving you a completely different game to master. Your upgrade includes both a regular target and your chosen custom target, so you can still enjoy traditional axe throwing before taking on something new.
Once your session is finished, the custom target (or whatever’s left of it) is yours to take home! To help your target survive a little longer, weapons used on custom targets are limited to hatchets and Angel Axes.
Slingshot Soft Archery Ages 8+

Release your inner Robin Hood with Slingshot Archery! Yes, that’s right, you get a slingshot and an arrow. Simply load it, take aim, release and watch your arrow fly towards the target!
It is easy for children to pick up, but still super fun as they challenge themselves to hit the target, score points and work their way towards the bullseye. Kids can compete against their friends and family or simply enjoy seeing how much their aim improves with every go.
Slingshot Archery can be booked as a standalone activity or added as an upgrade to any 60 minute soft bristle axe throwing session.
